Ruby rides like a gal

Day one roadie began at 5am, Thelma and Louise riding RED and the Boys riding WHiTE!!

Container coffee stop at Silverdale…before hitting the Auckland highways to beat the traffic! We carried on to Cambridge for our fuel up…

The Waikato was foggy….and the trip through to Taupo a little vision challenged as the low clouds hung around in the valleys…

A few bathroom and snack stops…

And a leg stretch at the waterhole driving range in Taupo!!!

A hole in one is worth $10K, however not worth the effort in light of my recent mini golf effort in Texas!

The temps still cool…as the low cloud kept out the sunshine…

The girls had their rest and we continued our journey through the middle of the North Island…

Cruising down the desert road, on the east side of Mt Ruapehu…still capped with its winter coat!

The further south we headed and took mini breaks, the more yarns we had with folks admiring our gals (cortina’s) with the final ice cream stop just before the hitting the freeway heading into Wellington (about an hour out!)

Vehicles, humans and canines all enjoying the now clear sunny day( the road weary travellers down to their t-shirts!) and arriving at our accommodation at 4.30pm!!

The view from the terrace of a well equipped unit….beer in freezer, Indian uber for dinner and an early night for the humans!

The cars went well, cruising the 700kms around 100km per hour (Ruby racing up the rear) no rain and traffic free flowing! The humans a little bumsore and stiff from sitting all day!

However early night and early start this morning to catch our 8.30 (3.5hour) ferry crossing to the South Island…

In good Bonnici fashion…if we are not an hour early we are late!!! So we lined up in the early bird queue and watched …..

The mini car club roll in…these guys heading to Christchurch for their nationals!

So day two roady begins…as we leave Wellington Harbour….to head to Picton then continue our drive to Nelson…where the fun begins for our bi annual Cortina Classic car Nationals!
