No point in just wearing one hat! After testing my physical self for five weeks, tomorrow, I will be testing technology….technology of the 70’s as I road trip 500 miles (rather than walking) my MK4 cortina to Wellington to cross to the South Island (by ferry) to join the nations “Cortinanites” at the NZ classic Cortina car club nationals in Nelson!

Ruby is polished and (nearly) pack for a 5 am getaway from the homestead in the morning!
Meanwhile the last few weeks have been school holiday childcare….

Ice blocks at Gran’mas for a moments peace!

And playground time to burn off some energy!
Sorting my house and reclaiming my garden…

Third grass cut complete….flowers and herbs planted and veges seeming to like their new home!

Country life is never dull or restful….if I want to keep the forest from climbing into my house! And this will be a lifetime project I’m sure!

Meanwhile my little helpers…enjoy the barefoot, garden life! Helping (?) to wash stones and water plants!

This girl decided to visit me last week, while I was head down and bum up cleaning the motor of my car….so a couple of hours cow time was had, while we kept her safe from the cars until the farmer turned up to get her back in the paddock!

Spring sunsets from Daniels deck while we enjoy our evening beer…my house loses the sun around 4pm…so sitting next door in the waning sunshine sipping a cool beer has become a habit…as we creep into summer! Temps still cool and often in single digits overnight but a few more days of sun lifts everyone out of the winter doldrums!
This last week, apart from a 6 hour lawn cutting day, had been focused on getting my cortina ready for the Nationals! Combined with a couple of visits to the garage (for minor repairs) and a lot of elbow grease…she still sports her 1979 original interior and exterior – turning heads…as I used to in my youth!
Tomorrow will be the test as she has to perform for 9 hours on the road!
Like any old gal…it’s a big job sprucing her up for a big show! Lucky the focus is on the cars not the humans!!!!
Watch this space!
