Now Tona and Chuck have retired….our days are filled with fun stuff, family time and chillin’
I arrived a week ago, and after a couple of nights of 2am wake time…my body adjusted to Texas time! (7 hours behind Europe)
A little shopping…TV baseball….church and on Sunday (after church) a pool and pizza party!
Monday we took Gigi to the doctor followed by an early lunch at a fabulous Mexican place in Angleton…(where Russ went to school as a teenager)
Then a trip to Walmart! Gigi enjoying a girls shopping spree! 2nd one of the visit! Not a favorite of my Texas family…but certainly for a kiwi a must!
Tuesday found us visiting the grandkids School for lunch…taking their favourite “chick Fil E” for lunch….an hours drive, 20 minute hectic lunch in the school lunch room…and an hours drive back…
After a bit of research..Tona and I found a yoga studio in a lake Jackson.. and hit a class at 9am on Wednesday morning (first time for Tona! And first time back in 4.5 months for me!)
This morning we felt our butts as we rolled out of bed for our 8am class! Before home to shower and head to Galveston for the day!
First stop lunch at 11 am (that’s what retired people do to beat the lunchtime rush)
At this fabulous seafood restaurant on the waterfront, Gulf of Mexico …
A storm had just passed through and the lifeguards have a cruise day!
After our large lunch…, it was to the mini golf…for a round of 9!
The big kids played! As all the little kids are at school! Not my best sporting activity…but lots of laughs…as I retrieved several balls from the trees! And….it was hot…I got my first Maltese sweat on since I have been here!
Next activity: Chuck and Tona took me to the Mooney gardens aquarium …a huge pyramid complex…with hotel, waterpark, rainforest, zip line, 3D theatre etc….but today for us it was the air conditioned aquarium!
Bringing our body temperature back down to an acceptable (not fainting) level…we spent over an hour…soaking in the…

And More penguins…there was actually a bunch of other sea life…seals, sharks, stingrays you could pat, fish of all shapes, sizes and colours, crabs, jellyfish…and everything sea life you can think of!
We were on a schedule to collect a click and collect grocery order just after 4…so headed back, collected and returned back to the tranquility of the homestead!
A big day for retired people!!!
I will get asked if I want dinner, but after big Texas lunches…a fruit bowl usually suffices!
Also, for my couch potato sports satisfaction…I have full coverage of the USA tennis open, currently on in New York! Life is good!
