The “only” good thing about a funeral is that you get to see lots of family and far flung friends who travel to farewell their loved one and support the living ones!
Sandy had a huge following and her life celebration was shared with 300 people….one of whom was my dear friend from Te Anau, laden with seafood (vacuum packed) from Stewart Island! For those offshore followers, Stewart Island is the third most southern of the New Zealand islands! A diamond in the south.

Monday nights dinner was Blue Cod, pub wedges and beans (for Al) salad for me! It’s a bit tough to smile these days but “blue cod” certainly helps.

Whitebait fritters and lemon wedges last night – another South Island delicacy! George and I added a few greens to our plates.
This week was going to be a settling down week and back into a routine! It’s been anything but! We have had errands to run, banks and business stuff to sort.. hours on the phone to sky TV, power and water companies etc..oh and iPad lessons for Al….the notes are out!
In between all this “Work”

The new workspace for George and Sue…,note Sues empty seat, ok so that’s because I’m taking the photo right at this point but our workday is littered with activities outside the computer screen. So here I was, thought I’d be clever, early to bed alarm set for 6am…ready to leap out of bed, stay in Jammies, and get a couple of hours work under my belt while the household slept! Nope! Next second Dads light is on and feet on floor…he had forgotten to take the hearing aid out and yes, my phone alarm had also woken him!
We have some teething issues with our settling in routines but all will be clear at the end of the week! Or month! Or year!
Meanwhile up at Waiwera, a bathroom is nearly finished (thanks to dan) in the newly weds house. Dan is getting geared up to start his renovations on his house, George and I are letting go of our rented house that we haven’t been in for six plus weeks and I miss looking at the sea and my Waiwera buddies!
But a new journey begins, and I am close to a gym should I so desire to attend! (In my spare time that isn’t)
We look after the living….that’s all I can say…….after three funerals and a wedding (in the last 10 months), I kinda feel numb!
