Saturday evening in Malta and the promised heatwave, due to hit us tomorrow, is certainly making its presence felt.

The last day for the sun babies, before their evening flight and you guessed it…early trip to the gym and on the beach by 9.30am!
Sue and Russ took a more leisurely inside approach before joining them at midday for a swim.
Final cleaning and packing, and off to Cafe Rouge for a late lunch/early dinner

At the Birgu church, a wedding Maltese bus! Which then passed the cafe full of the bridal party and, I assume close family! Maybe heading for a quick swim before the evening of partying? Late afternoon felt like 40 (celcius) in the shade!

A few hardy trees still retaining a bit of colour, but much of Malta is now turning its yellow/brown sunburnt shades of summer.
Very thirsty, I ordered a freshly squeezed lemon juice (thinking American lemonade with a dash of sugar) NOPE – 20 lemons sacrificed to make straight lemon juice. I kept adding ice to dilute, but bitter to the bitter end! I guess I should have learned by now that when they say freshly squeezed lemon juice – that is what you get!
Possibly the nastiest drink I have actually drunk!
After food, we then collected bags and headed to the airport. Russ and Sue taking a 20 minute break in the air-conditioning while George and Kat checked in..

Leaving the airport this F1 Red Bull racer (the Brendon Hartley type) was parked in the underbridge to the car park.
Halfway home, George advised that their plane is delayed and looking at a midnight ETA in Oslo, Norway.. this doesn’t bode well for our next journey to the airport at around 11pm tonight to meet Russell’s friends and Kev and Rols (who are all on the unreliable Ryanair flights)… nap time and we’ll check in a couple of hours!
