Work, Rest, play in old and New Malta

Absentee blogger yesterday with a work day and an afternoon rest day after a big Wednesday!

The evening saw the team, head to Claire and Brian’s (cousins) for a BBQ – Rabbit on the BBQ; yes I have now eaten rabbit! More and more Maltese as time goes by….

A lovely evening with the cousins and Lots of Laughs!

An easy drive back (no traffic or nasty men in big black trucks) and home around midnight.

Up early this morning for the worker, the rest of the team had a little sleep in….Kat and George heading to the gym around 9.30am and Russ and Sue out to make a couple of purchases.

The small (patterned) ones added to our other small luggage for our trip north in a little over a week – Trudi you may recognise the style and yes..same shop, same lady!

We all caught up around 11am, for a coffee and Sue dropped the sunbabies (Kat and George) to Rinella Beach for the day.

Russ and Sue had an appointment to collect our Maltese friend Carmen at midday, with a trip to Lidl planned (supercheap supermarket).

In the heat of the day an air conditioned supermarket is a great place to spend time. It was a big exercise, however, as we had a list in our heads and Carmen (who can never get there) was excited to find all her favourite Italian foods! Sue spent quite some time running between Russ’s trolley and Carmen’s trolley!

Three hours later mission accomplished, after carrying lots of heavy bags for Carmen and to our house…..it was time

For an ice cold cisk, while folding washing…even those mundane jobs can be pleasant!

Swimming togs on and out, again, to retrieve the beach kids and have a cool dip ourselves!

We suggested we should take a little drive south (like 5 minutes) and see Smart City Malta (the business hub built about 7 years ago and finally starting to gain some traction)

Still crowdless around the man made lake…but really a bit warm to be sitting out for long.

However, if the carparks (which were quite full) are anything to go by, it appears the office spaces (or at least some of them) are now occupied. This development is a modern blot on an ancient landscape….and quite a different world from the old buildings and hustle and bustle of most of the Malta towns.

Situated south of the old Cities, this area sits on a rugged rocky coastline overlooking the Mediterranean ocean!

It was then home (Birgu) to prepare dinner , showers and relax for the evening, the penultimate day of Kat and George’s holiday!
