Life goes on

A couple of weeks of mayhem in godzone “Kiwiland” and the lives of those that live in this country.

After the first terrorist attack on our country and the Muslim community we have seen the boundaries tighten even here. Our prime minister has become the cover girl of hugs and tears, while promising to spend more money to “save the world”….. the freedom of speech is clipped, careful what you say on social media or you will be arrested!….books taken off shelves, and returned after the poor shop assistants took the abuse!….headscarf wearing in 26 degrees, while one woman told us how courteous drivers on the road were when she was wearing the scarf!….I do look forward to an article on “Trump” or “Brexit” to appear in our news headlines again!

And the daily routine of work, Russ’s exercise routine, visiting mum eating and sleeping continues! Weekends full of house stuff, maintenance and lists! Two months until we fly off again…

A couple of pleasant interludes and social events, lunch with our friends Julie and Pam, first catch up since Malta last year!

Russ has taken a trip to Nelson to visit old school friends and just roam around for the week.

And…Last night at a show featuring our friend Lesley, another Malta catch-up. A show for women about as Lesley puts it “down there”…. a fundraiser for women’s refuge… and very entertaining at times…Russ may have been more at home watching the rugby!

In summary, our little country has been turned upside down, with terrorist attacks, the world watching on as our prime minister appears on all the front pages and head scarfs are becoming the fashion trend……and we as individuals do our best to save our little corner of the world.
