Surfs up at Waiwera

Waiwera, 30 kms north of Auckland is a quiet little bay , clear, calm and very tidal!

Yesterday afternoon the surfers started rolling in – and being 100 meters from the beach, we thought – you guys are dreaming.

However we could hear the sea…and waves! Seriously a once in a decade happening!

Today working remotely from home and sitting in the cottage at 30 degrees Celsius! Morning tea break on an incoming tide!

A four foot wave was rolling in and the beachfront was dotted with surfers, ok so retired grey headed surfers, but definitely a blast from the past!

Trudi was heading home today but after her first swim of the summer, decided another day at the beach was not even a question!

Waiwera was a very special place today – even though I sat at my computer for eight hours….

Not a need to worry about the town dress – bikini and wet towel! A perfect way to keep cool.

An evening of neighbours and sunsets – the surf is abating as quickly as it came…

And we are back to our calm paradise…. while across the road our local firefighters train in a slightly cooler evening breeze

Life is very relaxed for all the activity of a not so sleepy little seaside town! Every day brings a new adventure and life at the beach is great.
